During these two days in September, the d'Ormesson family invites us to visit their family château, built in 1530 by Jacques Androuet du Cerceau for Olivier d'Ormesson, Judge-Rapporteur at Fouquet's trial.
Some of the world's greatest authors, parliamentarians, diplomats and academics have lived here: Diderot, Marshal Lyautey, Madame de Sévigné, His Majesty King Mohamed V of Morocco, Count Wladimir d'Ormesson, Ambassador to the Holy See... Five centuries of history are still visible within the walls of this building.
Literature, history, art and nature intermingle in this château set in 130 hectares of parkland. Come and admire this well-preserved historic estate, and let yourself be seduced by its beauty.

Guided tours of the Château d'Ormesson
The Château d'Ormesson, a historic estate held by the same family since 1630, opens to the public in 2026, including during the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days).
Guided tours through the park’s basins and the château’s principal reception rooms (which retain furniture untouched for more than a century) invite visitors to discover this literary landmark, today home to France’s largest private archival collection.
Initially attributed to Jacques and then to Baptiste Androuet du Cerceau, the building dates back to 1581 for Louis Picot de Santeny, Intendant of Finances under Henri III. The château expanded when Louis XV created the Marquisate of Amboile-Ormesson in 1758.
Illustrious guests have graced its halls, from Bossuet and Madame de Sévigné to Diderot, the King of Württemberg, Queen Amélie of Portugal, King Mohammed V of Morocco, Princess Bibesco, and Pope John XXIII.
Olivier III d’Ormesson, Judge-Advocate at the Fouquet trial, Marshal Lyautey, and most recently Count Wladimir d’Ormesson, French ambassador to the Holy See, are among the notable figures who have lived here—alongside the era’s greatest writers, parliamentarians, diplomats and scholars.
The park, laid out from designs by Le Nôtre, creates a French perspective that culminates in a formal axis. A golf course has complemented the grounds since 1925.
In all, more than 140 hectares of green, just outside Paris.
