Heritage Days 2023 at the National Veterinary School and Fragonard Museum in Alfort (94)

To mark the 40th Journées du Patrimoine, the École Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort and its museum invite you to take part in free guided tours on September 16 and 17, 2023. It's the perfect time to discover the history of this atypical place, and perhaps inspire some vocations in young visitors.

Fancy a visit off the beaten track for the Journées du Patrimoine? To mark the 40th edition of this European cultural event, theÉcole Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort and the Fragonard Veterinary School Museum invite you to discover their history and their premises, on September 16 and 17, 2023. The establishment, whose main site is in Maisons-Alfort, is one of the most prestigious veterinary schools in France.

Founded in 1766 by the architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot, the school covers an area of 12 hectares and includes the Fragonard Museum, housing one of the world's most impressive veterinary collections, as well as a botanical garden awarded the "Jardin remarquable" label.

Seven of the site's buildings were listed as historic monuments in 1992. Today, the school is home to over 800 students and 80 teaching and research staff. This exceptional site is opening its doors again this year, for the Journées du Patrimoine, an opportunity to learn more about the history of the site and discover one of the oldest schools in the Île-de-France region.
