Heritage Days 2025: guided tours of Archéa, the archaeological museum in Louvres (95)

For the Journées du Patrimoine, Archéa, the Pays de France archaeology museum in Louvres, Val-d'Oise (95), awaits you for guided tours on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21, 2025. Here's the program for the 42nd edition!

Forthe Journées du Patrimoine, why not do a little archaeology? Head for Archéa, musée d'Archéologie en Pays de France, located in Louvres in the Val-d'Oise, to discover a special program on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21, 2025. Opened in September 2010, Archéa is a little more than a museum: it's an area-wide project developed back in the 80s, with the aim of conserving, studying and promoting the archaeological heritage of Pays de France, the name of the natural region north of Paris, nearRoissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport.

A museum that welcomes you in a contemporary building, and invites you to discover its temporary and permanent collections based on the region's archaeological remains, from prehistory to the 18th century. Videos, models, tactile tours and other archaeological remains and objects are on display to help you better understand the rich history of this geographical area, and shed light on the history of France.

The museum takes over from the Tour Saint-Rieul, then the town's archaeological museum. The latter housed objects and remains unearthed during excavations carried out between 1976 and 1987 by the Groupe de recherches historiques et archéologiques de Louvres-en-Parisis (GRHALP). These excavations, which took place in Louvres town center, brought to light bronze basins, glassware, gold fibulae and bracelets, all bearing witness to the presence of a large Merovingian necropolis between 500 and 515 AD.
