Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) attract Parisians of all ages with their many cultural attractions. The event is usually held on the third weekend in September. The concept? Encourage us to discover the treasures of our heritage through a vast program of free or guided tours, events and workshops for all ages. Museums, monuments, castles, churches, ministries, embassies and even major institutions- every year, many places lend themselves to the game, to the delight of enthusiasts and the curious.
In Paris and the Ile-de-France region, this vast panorama of exceptional outings means there's something for everyone. As you'd expect, it's going to be a busy weekend in the City of Light. If you're looking for a change of scenery that also promises cultural discoveries, then you won't want to miss the Grande Mosquée de Paris, with its sublime Hispano-Moorish architecture and enchanting gardens.
