Exceptionally, to mark the Journées du Patrimoine 2023, the Préfet d'Île-de-France is opening the doors of his official residence, the Hôtel de Noirmoutier, on September 16 and 17.

It's the tradition of the autumn: on the third weekend of September, for the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), thousands of sites all over France open their doors to the general public, allowing them to enjoy and (re)discover the history, arts and culture that make up the richness of our country. Of course, museums, places of worship, factories, department stores and workshops are all part of the fun... But what always attracts us are the open doors of major institutions.

So, on September 16 and 17, 2023, the Senate, the National Assembly, the Élysée Palace, the Hôtel de Matignon and the ministries will be exceptionally accessible to all! It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and one you'll want to seize if you want to visit France's most powerful institutions.

More discreet, but just as interesting, is theHôtel de Noirmoutier , which also opens this Heritage Days weekend. Located in the 7th arrondissement, this private mansion is the official residence of the Prefect of the Île-de-France region, Prefect of Paris.

The Prefect is " the representative of the State's authority. He is in charge of national interests and compliance with the law ", according to the Vie publique website. More precisely, this senior civil servant is the State's representative in the region to which he or she has been assigned. He implements the public policies decided by the government, enforces the law and ensures law and order in his region. In 2023, Marc Guillaume is Prefect of the Île-de-France region, Prefect of Paris.

On the program for this exceptional visit to the JEP 2023:

These institutions are often overrun by the curious: arrive early to avoid the queue!
