In Paris, in the 16th arrondissement, the Maison La Roche slips into the list of must-visit stops for the cultural event on Saturday, September 19. Built between 1923 and 1925 by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, this villa is a manifesto of architectural purism. Commissioned by Raoul La Roche, it blends an art gallery with private apartments and embodies the five tenets of modern architecture: pilotis, free façade, long windows, roof garden, and an open-plan interior, all sculpted in reinforced concrete with bold audacity. Classified as a historic monument in 1996 and inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List since 2016, the Maison La Roche now comes alive with contemporary exhibitions that give it a real fresh vibe.

The Foundation marks the 10-year anniversary (2016–2026) of Le Corbusier’s Architectural Work being inscribed on the World Heritage List.

The exhibition brings together the 17 sites inscribed in a serial ensemble, spread across seven countries, to illuminate both their unity and their universal reach. Plans, models, photographs and archives invite visitors to rediscover this remarkable whole, while highlighting the diversity of the achievements—from housing to cultural, religious and administrative facilities. Films by Stefan Cornic (Beall Productions) showcase several major works, including the Villa Savoye and the Cité Frugès.

The ensemble testifies to the invention of a new architectural language in the 20th century and also invites reflection on the challenges of preserving and transmitting this heritage.

### Maison La Roche :

Designed and built between 1923 and 1925 by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, Maison La Roche was already extensively photographed and admired by the late 1920s. It, like the Purist villas as a whole, helped establish Le Corbusier as the master of modern architecture. At the patron Raoul La Roche’s request, the house is divided into two parts: the gallery housing his painting collection and his private apartments.

Maison La Roche and Maison Jeanneret are part of the 17-site Le Corbusier serial World Heritage inscription.
