Built starting in 1504 for Cardinal Georges d'Amboise, the Château de Vigny stands as one of the finest examples of the French First Renaissance in the Île-de-France region. Inspired by the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, it preserves its moats, its tall towers and its distinctive symmetrical layout. In the 19th century, a major restoration campaign in the troubadour style enriched its décor without erasing its Renaissance identity.

After years of neglect, the castle was bought back in 2016 as it teetered on the brink of collapse. Weakened by damp, dry rot and the passage of time, it has since embarked on an ambitious restoration program. Work already completed has stabilized the structure, restored the façades and roofs, and revived many carved features. The project now continues inside the castle, in the outbuildings and the surrounding park.
