In the heart of the Seine-et-Marne, the Moulin de Belle-Assise is among those places that tell a story often little-known about Île-de-France. For the Heritage Days, held on 19 and 20 September 2026, the mill opens its doors and invites visitors to travel back in time, to discover a rural heritage that has stood the test of the centuries.
Built in the 15th century on the banks of the Gondoire in Jossigny, the Moulin de Belle-Assise was once used to grind cereals produced in the surrounding countryside. On this guided visit you’ll not only learn how windmills work, but you’ll also uncover the rich history of the Moulin de Belle Assise (often referred to as the Jossigny Mill) which served as a flour mill, a geodetic reference point for the famed Cassini map, and even a NATO radar site.
Visits depart in the morning at 9:30, 10:00, 10:30 and 11:00, and in the afternoon at 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00.
