For the 2026 European Heritage Days in Paris, the Musée de la Vie romantique invites us to reconnect with Romantic Paris. Discover the special program lined up for this weekend of September 19–20, 2026.

Museums, monuments historiques, castles, there is plenty to deepen your cultural knowledge during the Journées du Patrimoine 2026, taking place this year on 19 and 20 September 2026. All weekend long, you can wander through Paris and in Île-de-France at your own pace, taking in spectacular exhibitions, exceptional animations, and leisurely, bucolic strolls. For this edition, Musée de la Vie romantique invites us to step into the heart of the 19th century. It’s a chance to discover this poetic museum and its verdant terrace.

True haven of bucolic peace in the heart of the 9th arrondissement, it instantly whisks us back to the romantic era. The visit is free and immersive, in this small museum tucked inside the Hôtel Scheffer-Renan. You can also stop by and enjoy a charming tea salon, but it’s the works of George Sand and Ary Scheffer that are most represented in the permanent collections. Each year, exhibitions let us discover the figures who shaped the Romantic era.

  • Tales of the Wise and the Mad

Tales of the Wise and the Foolish

Through a performance by the Compagnie Les Dramaticules (Théo Pombet and Jérémie Le Louët), the museum aims to spotlight stories from European and global heritage.

Histoires de sages et de fous brings together in a single program Grimm’s The Fisherman and His Wife, Tolstoy’s The Two Brothers, and The Two Who Dreamed, an excerpt from One Thousand and One Nights.

These three “worldwide” tales feature ordinary people swept up by extraordinary destinies: a magical fish that can grant any wish, a carved stone that promises power and glory, and a dream that reveals the location of a treasure. All the protagonists confront existential and philosophical questions that will resonate with both children and adults. In their feuds or in their quest for wisdom, the characters will sometimes follow irrational, wayward paths: they will listen to their hearts.

    Participation requirements: Free

    Schedule: Sunday, September 20, 2026 — 10:00 to 12:00
