As some European countries are gradually reopening their borders to EU tourists, China has announced to make restrictions for international flights softer. Starting from June 8, foreign airlines will be able to fly once a week towards continental China.

How and when will international flights from and to China – cradle of the coronavirus epidemic – resume? On June 4, the country has brought a few elements to answer the matter. China has given green light for the gradual restart of its international flights.

According to the release published by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), foreign airlines are allowed to provide connections starting from June 8, 2020 with flights limited to once a week. Careful though, these flights only apply to continental China. Are excluded Hong Kong and Macao as they have their own aviation regulations.

This statement is made a couple of hours after the United States said they were suspending all Chinese airline connections to the United-States starting from June 16.

Chinese health authorities wanted to add that only one new contamination case have been reported in continental China these past twenty-four hours. All in all, 83,022 people have been infected by the virus in the country.

For the record, EU inner borders including French borders will remain closed until June 15. “France will be favorable to reopen EU inner borders from June 15 if the health situation allows it, of course without self-isolation for travelers coming from European countries. We will apply reciprocity measures towards the European states who would decide to close their borders or impose self-isolation to French people” Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said when presenting phase 2 of the containment exit scheme.

Yet, Italy has reopened its borders on June 3 to EU tourists. Spain may authorize French tourists to be back as soon as early July. As for Greece, it gave green light to welcome some EU tourists from mid-June.
