Line 4: A central Paris metro station will be closed for four months from September 14.

Think the works and closures in the Paris metro are over after this summer? Bad news: you’ll need to adjust your travel habits this autumn if your routes take you through the Quartier Latin. As part of the network modernization projects, the RATP is launching a major renovation operation at the Saint-Michel station. The result: from September 14 to December 19, 2026 inclusive, the stop will simply not be served on the Line 4, and trains will run past without stopping.

This lengthy project, spanning nearly four months, aims to refresh the facilities and improve passenger comfort at this aging hub on one of the capital’s key lines. Still, for daily commuters and casual visitors alike, closing this nerve center could add a few extra minutes to trips throughout the quarter.

Luckily, central Paris remains easily walkable from nearby stations. To reach the Saint-Michel fountain area or the 'Île de la Cité, plan ahead and use the nearby Cité (Line 4) station, or the Odéon stop (Lines 4 and 10). Only the metro station is affected; the RER B and C at Saint-Michel - Notre-Dame should remain in service according to current information.
