The Maison des Métallos is a very special place, located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. Built in 1881 to house the Gautrot musical instrument factory, the building changed function and occupant over the decades, before becoming a historic monument. Today, this cultural venue, owned by Paris City Hall, is an unusual arts center, with an emphasis on live performances and sharing with its neighborhood.

The Fête de la Musique is a major popular celebration, organized every June 21 for over 40 years in France! The event was initiated by François Mitterrand's Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, as well as Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon. The three men wanted to showcase all genres of music, and all willing artists, to promote the diversity of the arts.
