The Fête de la Musique is a unique event that celebrates the summer solstice with music. Every year on June 21, the streets, parks, gardens, courtyards and squares of France are transformed into open stages to welcome musicians and music lovers alike. Music takes over Paris and the whole of the Île-de-France region. Musical artists take over the capital's most iconic venues, including one of Montmartre's most symbolic monuments.
Sacré-Cœur, this magnificent basilica that towers over Paris from Montmartre Hill, stands as a powerful symbol of the city’s history. With its Romanesque-Byzantine architecture and dazzling white façade, it provides a perfect setting for a concert. Begun in 1875 and completed in 1914, it was built as an act of repentance following France’s defeat in the Franco-Prussian War and the upheaval of the Paris Commune. Consecrated in 1919 after the end of World War I, today the basilica is a major tourist attraction, drawing millions of visitors each year eager to admire its striking architecture. So when it comes to celebrating Music Day at Sacré-Cœur, the answer is a resounding yes! Discover this year’s lineup of events.
