It's back again this June 21, to put a smile on the faces of many a music-starved Frenchman! This year, the Fête de la Musique celebrates its 42nd anniversary. To mark the occasion, a host of free concerts are on offer in the streets, squares, bridges and boulevards, as well as in parks and gardens, bars and restaurants, churches and museums.
As always, the Fête de la musique features a wide range of styles. Rock, rap, reggae, classical music, electro or even jazz, blues and RnB... so many genres to get you dancing and singing at the top of your lungs!
Organized for the first time in France in 1982, the Fête de la Musique was the brainchild of Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon. At the time, their objective was simple: to launch a major event enabling all musicians to play and make themselves known during a festive evening. For over 40 years now, the Fête de la Musique has been a resounding success, delighting music lovers every June 21!
