The Fête de la musique is back in Paris and across France on June 21, 2026! This year, the iconic, crowd-pleasing celebration lands on a Sunday. A great opportunity to enjoy a long, lively musical evening to cap the weekend!
Just a quick reminder: it was in 1982 that the country hosted its first Fête de la musique. The event was born thanks to Jack Lang, then the Minister of Culture, along with Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon, an architect–scénographe and a member of the Cabinet. Their idea? To launch a grand, popular celebration that would让 every musician get to perform and be heard for one festive evening.
More than 40 years after its launch, the event remains as popular and widely acclaimed, with some even traveling from abroad! Thus, every June 21, aspiring musicians and singers take to the streets to let living music resonate. On that day, all genres are in the spotlight: rock, rap, electro, classical, zouk, funk, metal or French pop, blues and jazz...
Music rings out across Parisian neighborhoods during the Fête de la musique, including in the 13th arrondissement. A district famed among street-art lovers, the 13th leans into cultural diversity this year, with a spotlight on Italian music!
