For Nuit Blanche 2022 in Paris, the city’s historic churches are once again opening their doors with captivating programs. Head to the 12th arrondissement, either at 1 Cannebière Street or 186 Daumesnil Avenue, depending on which entrance you choose, to (re)discover the Church of the Holy Spirit, which unveils its lineup for the 20th edition of Nuit Blanche in Paris and Île-de-France.
This year, the church offers a musical show From the Depths of Time. Fanny Perrier-Rochas and her Cappella Company invite you to an immersive concert blending sacred chants from the East—sung in Arabic, Aramaic, and ancient Greek—with electro-acoustic compositions. Dare to step inside this parish, which reveals a majestic interior vastly different from its modest exterior.

This red brick church, reminiscent of Northern-style homes, was built between 1928 and 1935 by architect Paul Tournon. Its design draws inspiration from the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. Constructed with reinforced concrete according to François Hennebique’s plans, its exterior is clad in Burgundy red bricks. The church’s decorative program narrates the story of the militant, then triumphant, church from the 2nd to the 20th century, involving the Ateliers d'Art Sacré, which brought together a team of talented artists: Maurice Denis, Georges Desvallières, Nicolas Untersteller, and Elizabeth Branly for wall paintings and frescoes; Carlo Sarrabezolles for sculpture; Louis Barillet, Paul Louzier, and Jean Herbert-Stevens for stained glass windows; Raymond Subes for ironwork; Marcel Imbs for mosaics and the design of the crypt’s stained glass cartoons.
So, how about diving into an immersive concert experience? And to explore all the events in detail, don’t forget to check out the Paris by arrondissement guide and the full Ile-de-France program.
