The Fontaine des Innocents has stood in Paris's 1st arrondissement since 1548. It was intended to honor the king's return to Paris after his coronation in Reims, paying tribute to Charles V, Charles VIII and Jean Le Bon. However, the 1548 fountain is not the original: the first fountain dates back to 1260 and was attached to the Saints-Innocents church, hence its name.
This monument is a small piece ofParis's history... But that's not all. This Saturday, June 7, 2025, the Fontaine des Innocents also becomes a work of art, thanks to the Nuit Blanche!
Nuit Blanche is a cultural event not to be missed in the Parisian calendar: a major celebration of contemporary art, bringing the whole capital to life for one night. Artists take over museums and parks, transforming streets and art centers... The Fontaine des Innocents also becomes an open-air stage for French and international artists.
So, what can we expect to see on the famous Paris fountain on June 7? To find out, you'll have to go and see... In the meantime, here's a quick summary of what's in store in the 1st arrondissement during this 2025 edition of Nuit Blanche.
