To coincide with the Olympic and Paralympic Games taking place in Paris this summer 2024, the French Hiking Federation (FFR) is organizing a major event, accessible to all, with the idea of linking Paris from the rest of France at the heart of the project.

In the run-up to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the FFR has issued a major challenge to amateur and regular hikers alike: to rally Paris from around 15 French towns, over a total of more than 10,000 kilometers of hiking, on France's most beautiful trails.

This extraordinary project is made up of a multitude of events, and in 2024, seven major itineraries are being organized by departmental and regional committees in mainland France and overseas, before arriving in Paris to celebrate the end of the Grande randonnée vers Paris with an unprecedented weekend of events right in the heart of the capital. Yes, on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12, 2024, we'll be in Paris for the closing weekend of this great sporting challenge, which is already planning family events, rando-challenges and rides around the Île-de-France region.

But before that, there's an event in store for amateur hikers, with seven major itineraries open to all: in all, over 558 stages of 20 to 25 kilometers each make up the route of this Grande randonnée to Paris, with over 10,000 kilometers covered on foot to the finish, on May 11 and 12, 2024.

The seven itineraries :

  • the secret plains and forests of Hauts de France
  • the Grand Est, land of battles
  • Vauban fortifications, from Nice to Paris, via Grenoble, Besançon...
  • culture and oenology in Burgundy
  • from the sources of the Loire to the Seine
  • from Cathar castles to the châteaux of the Loire
  • from the Breton tides to the meanders of the Seine

To take part in the itineraries, you need to fill in a form and send it to the e-mail address indicated (page 6). From Lille, Strasbourg, Nancy, Rennes, Nantes, Lyon, Nice, Bordeaux... and many other French cities, set off on these great tours, heading for Paris!
