JOP 2024: the Paralympic flame passes through Paris, timetable and events

The first Paralympic Games in the history of the capital are back! After the Olympic Games, which left a lasting impression on the city with an opening ceremony along the Seine, Olympic venues set against a picture-postcard backdrop, and an Olympic cauldron floating in the sky, the handisport version is now set to make Paris and the surrounding region shine! Starting this August 28, we're back at it again, with an off-stage launch on the magnificent Place de la Concorde. The iconic Olympic sites are back, and the Paralympic athletes are ready to bring home a piece of the Eiffel Tower.

The countdown begins this Sunday, August 25, in Stoke Mandeville, home of the Paralympic Games. From England, 12 flames criss-cross France, preparing to merge in Paris shortly before the opening ceremony on August 28. After passing through the Ile-de-France region the day before, the flame will travel through 22 symbolic Parisian sites in all the arrondissements, with a variety of activities for the whole family!

Before becoming one, 11 torches will continue to circulate, each passing through a different arrondissement at 10am or 2pm. The main torch, the one from England, will make its way from Insep and Bois de Vincennes between 10 and 10.45 a.m., then from Place de Nation at 4 p.m. to République, via Bastille, before ending atHôtel de Ville at around 5.45 p.m., where all the flames will be reunited.

Paralympic Games: a 13th flame will commemorate the Liberation of Paris, then go to Rock en Seine
After the Olympic flame, the Paralympic version will soon begin its relay, on August 25. Following its passage under the English Channel, it will come to the capital for the first time to commemorate the Liberation of Paris, and will make a festival tour! [Read more]
