Wonder Woman, the superhero film directed by Patty Jenkins with Gal Gadot, is airing on TMC on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 9:25 PM. Released in French cinemas on June 21, 2017, the feature-length film tells the origins of Diana, the Amazon princess who is set to become one of DC Comics' leading heroines.

Raised on the island of Themyscira by her mother, Queen Hippolyta, Diana grows up sheltered from the world of men. She trains in combat under her aunt Antiope, even as Hippolyta harbors serious misgivings about the dangers her daughter's powers and lineage could invite.

The balance of the island is disrupted when an American pilot, Steve Trevor, crashes off its shores. Portrayed by Chris Pine, he informs the Amazons that a war is ravaging the outside world. Convinced she can end the conflict, Diana leaves Themyscira with him and heads to Europe in the midst of the First World War.

Her journey throws the young warrior headlong into the brutal reality of battle, while also confronting the moral contradictions of humanity she vows to protect. As she presses toward the front, Diana gradually discovers the full scope of her powers and the weight of the responsibility that comes with her wish to intervene in the conflict.

Wonder Woman marks the first feature film to focus entirely on Diana, the character portrayed by Gal Gadot, after her introduction in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The movie steps back several decades to show how she met humanity and how her convictions were shaped.

With Gal Gadot and Chris Pine leading the charge, the cast also features Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta, Robin Wright as Antiope, along with Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner and Lucy Davis. The screenplay is by Allan Heinberg, based on a story developed with Zack Snyder and Jason Fuchs.
