Casey Affleck returns in front and behind the camera with a new movie out in France on August 12, 2020, Light of my Life.
The director waited 10 years to come back with a new movie project, after “I’m Still Here”. Remember, written and directed by Casey Affleck, this faux American documentary starred Joaquin Phoenix totally changed for the role.
In “Light of my Life”, Casey Affleck – we have also seen in “Will Hunting”, “Ocean’s Eleven”, “Gerry”, “Last Kiss” and even “Gone Baby Gone” – changes style and turns to drama mixed with science fiction.
Also starring, Elisabeth Moss (seen in “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “Top of the Lake”, “Invisible Man”, “Her Smell”, “The Kitchen”, “Us, “The Square”…) and young actress Anna Pniowsky.
Plot:
In a close future where the female population has been wiped out, a father tries to protect his only daughter, Rag, miraculously spared. In this brutal world dominated by primary instincts, survival goes through strict discipline made of permanent runaway and tricks. But he knows it, his greatest challenge is elsewhere: how to keep the illusion of a carefree daily life and how to save the close relationship with his daughter when everything falls apart?
