Retribution, Nimród Antal's action thriller starring Liam Neeson, Jack Champion and Lilly Aspell, hits Netflix on October 28, 2026. The film puts a father and his children inside a car rigged with explosives in the heart of Berlin.
Matt Turner, an American financier living in Germany, is taking his two kids to school when he receives a call from a stranger. The caller tells him that a bomb has been placed under his seat and will detonate if he leaves the car or refuses to follow his instructions.
Forced to keep moving, Matt must juggle several tasks while trying to protect his kids and uncover who’s manipulating him. The police increasingly regard him as a suspect, leaving him even less room to break free from the trap.
Directed by Nimród Antal, Retribution hit French cinemas in August 2023. Liam Neeson stars opposite Jack Champion, Lilly Aspell, Noma Dumezweni, Matthew Modine, Embeth Davidtz and Arian Moayed.
The film is the American adaptation of the Spanish thriller El desconocido (Unknown Caller), directed by Dani de la Torre in 2015. The action is moved to Berlin, while most of the story stays concentrated inside the car’s cabin.
This setup turns the film into a mobile claustrophobic thriller: Matt must bargain with his blackmailer, shield his children from fear, and puzzle out the motives behind the attack—all while he can’t slow down.
Retribution will be available on Netflix starting October 28, 2026.
