On May 22, 2024, Apple TV+ welcomes the fourth season of Trying, the touching comedy-drama that explores the joys and challenges of adoption. Created by Andy Wolton, the series spotlights Nikki (played by Esther Smith) and Jason (played by Rafe Spall), a couple eager to become parents in a world of seemingly endless obstacles.
Six years after taking in their adopted children, Nikki and Jason have become experienced adoptive parents, leading a fulfilling family life surrounded by a strong support network. However, their lives take a new turn when Princess (Scarlett Rayner), their teenage daughter, expresses a desire to be reunited with her biological mother. Princess' quest for identity will put Nikki and Jason's parenting skills to the test, confronting them with new emotional challenges.
Trying has captivated viewers with its unique blend of humor, sensitivity and realism, tackling profound themes such as fertility, adoption, and family building beyond blood ties. The series celebrates the beauty and complexity of becoming and being a parent, while navigating the sometimes troubled waters of contemporary society and family expectations.
The fourth season promises to deepen these explorations, offering a window on the challenges of adolescence, the quest for identity, and the importance of communication and unconditional love in family relationships. Through Princess's journey, "Trying" asks universal questions about belonging and identity, while continuing to provide moments of lightness and warmth that characterize the series.
The continuing adventures of Nikki, Jason, and their family arrive on May 22, 2024 with Season 4 of Trying. A series that touches the heart and stimulates the mind, exclusively on Apple TV+.
