Over 30 years and thousands of films viewed later,Acid continues to showcase singular films from France and beyond, made by emerging, intrepid and independent filmmakers. This parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival has just unveiled its 2024 selection, and the film Kyuka - Before summer's end by Kostis Charamountanis is one of them.
Summer. A family of three, a single father, Babis, and his twins, Konstantinos and Elsa, travel to the island of Poros on the family boat for their vacation. While swimming, sunbathing and making new friends, Konstantinos and Elsa unknowingly meet their biological mother, Anna, who abandoned them when they were babies. This encounter awakens old feelings of resentment. A bittersweet journey into adulthood.
Starring Simeon Tsakiris, Elsa Lekakou, Konstantinos Georgopoulos, Afroditi Kapokaki and Elena Topalidou, Kyuka - Before summer's end is the debut feature film from the young Greek director. Also an actor, music composer, sound designer, editor, second assistant director and production assistant in theater, television and film, Kostis Charamountanis definitely has more than one string to his bow.
