June 11, 2024 marks the arrival of Max, the new streaming platform from Warner Bros. Discovery in France. This platform, born of the merger between HBO Max and Discovery+, promises a rich variety of content, aiming to establish itself as a major streaming player in France.
Max offers an eclectic catalog featuring treasures from Warner Bros. studios, HBO, CNN, Discovery Channel, and Cartoon Network, among others. Subscribers will find iconic series such as Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, The Sopranos, and True Detective. For fans of adult animation, series such as Rick & Morty and Samurai Jack will also be available.
In terms of cinema, Max includes cult franchises such as Harry Potter, Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Mad Max, and the DC universe with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.
Max doesn't just offer international content. The platform also features high-quality original French productions. These include Une Amie Dévouée, a drama series starring Laure Calamy, and Malditos, a thriller set in the Camargue. The adaptation of Delphine Horvilleur's book, Vivre avec nos morts, will also be available as a comedy-drama.
Max offers three subscription packages to suit different needs and budgets:
For sports fans, a €5-a-month option gives access to Eurosport channels 1 and 2, covering events such as Grand Slam tournaments, the Tour de France, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Subscribers will also be able to follow the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at no extra cost.
Subscribers to certain Canal+ offers (Ciné-Séries, Friends & Family, Intégrale, and Rat+ Ciné-Séries) will benefit from access to Max at no extra cost. This integration eases the transition for current Warner Pass users on Amazon Prime Video, who will be automatically migrated to Max.
Subscriptions will be available directly via the official Max website, as well as via a dedicated app on iOS and Android. Agreements with Internet service providers such as Orange, Free and SFR will also enable Max to be added to their offerings.
Max's arrival in France promises to shake up the streaming landscape thanks to a varied catalog, high-quality original French content, and competitive subscription offers. With prestigious titles and a strategy of integration with existing platforms such as Canal+, Max is set to appeal to a wide audience from its launch on June 11, 2024.
