Harris Dickinson, the actor who starred in Babygirl alongside Nicolas Kidman, was revealed in Ruben Ôstlund's Palme d'Or winner Sans Filtre and before that in Eliza Hittman's Beach Rats, is moving to the other side of the camera. The young director has signed his first film, Urchin, which has just been selected for the Cannes 2025 Film Festival.
Competing in the Un Certain Regard section, Urchin is automatically in the running for the Caméra d'Or 2025, a distinction reserved for first works presented at the Cannes Film Festival. As a reminder, the Cannes Festival's prestigious Un Certain Regard selection spotlights a certain idea of cinema: young, global and in the throes of formal research.
The cast will include Briton Frank Dillane, seen in the Harry Potter films (where he plays teenage Tom Jedusor) and the Fear The Walking Dead series (where he plays Nick Clark), and Franco-British actress Megan Northam, recently seen in Rabia, Pendant ce temps sur Terre and in Cédric Klapisch's Salade Grecque series.
Urchin will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The release date in French cinemas is not yet known.
Synopsis: Mike, a London homeless man, is trying to turn his life around.
