Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach presented Les 4 Fantastiques : Premiers Pas in Paris. Here's a look back at a funny press conference, full of confidences about Marvel's most emblematic family.

Pedro Pascal and the First Marvel Family in Paris to launch Fantastic 4: First Steps

On Monday, July 7, 2025, Paris played host to the first leg of the world tour of Marvel Studios' new film, The Fantastic 4: First Steps. Actors Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards / Monsieur Fantastique), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm / the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm / the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm / the Thing) met the press under the dome of theEspace Niemeyer, in the 19th arrondissement. A highly symbolic choice of location, since the building's architecture inspired the design of the Baxter Building, the mythical HQ of Les Fantastiques.

An original creation with real historical weight

Before Iron Man, the Hulk or Spider-Man, there was... the Fantastic 4. This genesis was fully felt by the actors, as Pedro Pascal confided:

"It was magnificent to begin with. And then also, it was a little bit precious I would say, for all of us. [...] It was also really the beginning of these original comics. So I'd say we were all pretty nervous and also very happy."

An iconic but complex couple

Asked about the dynamic between Sue Storm and Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby insisted on the richness of the relationship:

"When you read the comics, this family has been together since 1961 and Sue and Reed are this iconic couple. And it's not all sweetness and light. [...] Sometimes they're separated, but they always come back together. [...] "Pedro is the best, so it was really great to play with him. [...] It was great, we loved it and we couldn't stop talking about it. In fact, the whole time we were shooting, we were talking about our intentions to honor this relationship and, really, this very deep love that they have."

A chemistry that goes beyond acting

The chemistry between the four actors is undeniable, both on and off screen:

"The chemistry? [...] We were lucky. Matt Shakman was just very, very good at casting. [...] I know these people and for the most part I adore them - and I think it's mutual," explained Ebon Moss-Bachrach. "The chemistry, the energy between us, that invisible attraction, that intimacy between us... it comes across on screen."

Johnny Storm and the Silver Surfer

The trailer reveals an encounter with the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. A landmark arrival for Johnny Storm, as Joseph Quinn explains:

"I don't wish to give too much away, it's true, but it is indeed very profound what she has on him. [...] Her view of space is very childlike. [...] And then she's super hot, so it's really rational anyway."

A family unlike the Avengers or the Guardians

When asked about the uniqueness of the Fantastic 4 in the MCU, Pedro Pascal answered straight to the point:

"Look at us! [...] I think we're different in that we're uniquely Marvel's first family, am I right? [...] We go through a transformation together, and we have the same curiosity as explorers. [...] I'd say we're the first slightly weird guys. And also... we wear blue very well."

Sue Storm, pregnant and powerful

In the film, Sue Storm is pregnant but continues to save the world. A strong performance that Vanessa Kirby welcomed:

"It was really very moving because she doesn't want to stay at home. [...] She does everything, she gives birth to another life. [...] And it didn't feel like a cliché. [...] Every woman has this mental conditioning that says 'maybe I can't do this', but actually we can."

What they brought to their characters

Each of the actors gave his vision of his role:

🧠 Pedro Pascal: "There's a certain innocence to the character because he's got such a big head. [...] Emotionally, it makes him almost virginal. [...] This very intimate domestic conflict is quite new for him."

💙 Vanessa Kirby: "For me, what always struck me in the comics was Sue's compassion. [...] She's the strongest avatar of maternal love. I thought about it a lot a lot, every day."

🔥 Joseph Quinn: "Collectively, what we bring is something a bit weird anyway. And then I hope it's still fun."

💪 Ebon Moss-Bachrach: "The danger with these really larger-than-life characters is a lack of humanity. So I tried to bring my own humanity to the character as much as possible."

Impressive and inspiring scenery

The visual style of the film, rooted in the 60s, has left its mark on the actors:

"Yes, most [des] were on real sets. [...] There are a lot of different versions of Times Square that are told in this movie. [...] When I got there, I thought, 'Oh yeah, there anyway, there anyway, it's a Marvel movie.'" - Pedro Pascal

Fancy a crossover?

When asked "Which MCU hero would you most like to interact with?", everyone has a favorite:

  • Pedro Pascal: "Mystical. Except really, she'd really kick my ass."
  • Vanessa Kirby: "Scarlett's the coolest. [...] She's the best."
  • Joseph Quinn: "I like Thanos's hair, it's great."
  • Ebon Moss-Bachrach: "I've always loved Wolverine.

A word to the French public

To conclude, the team thanked French fans, the first to discover this new version of the "first Marvel family".

"We love you. And then enjoy the movie. Please go and see it." - Pedro Pascal

"This is our first country on this promotional tour. [...] You can already feel the love. It's great." - Vanessa Kirby
