On May 29, 1997, the rock world mourned the tragic death of Jeff Buckley. Aged just 30, the American singer and guitarist died after an accidental drowning in Tennessee's Wolf River, leaving loved ones and fans devastated. Three years earlier, Jeff Buckley had released"Grace", his one and only album featuring a sublime cover of Leonard Cohen's " Hallelujah ". Like many other artists, Jeff Buckley enjoyed resounding success after his death. Sales of his album"Grace" exploded after his death.

Nearly 30 years after his passing, his songs and distinctive voice continue to haunt us. This winter, an unreleased documentary, directed by Amy Berg, will bring the rock icon back to the big screen. Titled "It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley ", the film features rare archival footage, as well as interviews with his mother, Mary Guibert, with Joan Wasser, aka Joan as Police Woman, his former partner, along with American artists Aimee Mann and Ben Harper. Together, they paint a heartfelt portrait of the artist, the first authorized account of his life.

Because in “It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley”, premiered at Sundance in January 2025, it was revealed that Jeff Buckley's mother refused to allow Brad Pitt to portray her son in a biopic. However, she did give her approval for the American star to produce this documentary, directed by Amy Berg (“West of Memphis”, “Janis”...).

In the trailer, Jeff Buckley also talks about his father, the musician Tim Buckley, who died at just 28 years old in 1975. In the United States, It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley was released in theaters on August 8th. In France, the release is scheduled for February 11, 2026.
