27 Nights will be available on Netflix from October 17, 2025.
Synopsis: Martha Hoffman, an eccentric and wealthy 83-year-old patron of the arts, is admitted to a psychiatric ward at the request of her daughters, who claim she is suffering from dementia. Forensic expert Casares is asked to investigate: is Martha really ill, or has she simply chosen to live out her final years in complete freedom? Is this internment an act of protection, or a means of controlling her fortune?
With tenderness and irony,27 Nights explores the boundary between madness and independence. Through the character of Martha, the film questions the way society perceives the elderly and their autonomy. The tone oscillates between emotion and satire, offering a reflection on family, power and life choices at the dawn of old age.
Marilú Marini plays a free, rebellious and lucid Martha, while Daniel Hendler plays Casares, an investigator caught between professional rigor and the humanity of his mission. Around them, the film brings together Humberto Tortonese, Julieta Zylberberg, Paula Grinszpan and Carla Peterson, forming a coherent ensemble in which drama and humor are aptly matched.
Known for his sensitive, witty works, Daniel Hendler 's 27 Nights is a deeply human story, rooted in Argentine reality. The director, who is also an actor, delivers a subtle, minimalist mise-en-scène, focusing on dialogue and the emotional complexity of his characters. Between introspection and lightness, he explores everyone's right to choose their own end of life.
