National Geographic unveils Love+War, a documentary directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (Free Solo, The Cave). Presented at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film portrays Pulitzer Prize-winning American photographer Lynsey Addario. The documentary will be available exclusively on Disney+ starting November 7, 2025, before airing on National Geographic on November 10.
Through archival footage, testimonials, and previously unseen footage, Love+War explores the journey of Lynsey Addario, a war photographer who has been present in the major conflict zones ofthe 21st century. A mother, she confronts her journalistic vocation with the constant risks of the profession, in a reflection on courage, responsibility, and humanity in the midst of chaos.
The film was produced by Little Monster Films with Shannon Dill and Anna Barnes. Acclaimed in Toronto and at several international festivals, it stands out for its sober narration and its spotlight on the female perspective in war photojournalism.
The production is a continuation of the human exploration documentaries by Oscar-winning duo Vasarhelyi and Chin, known for their immersive and visually masterful approach. Their work on Love+War highlights the perseverance and resilience of a photographer confronted with the harshest realities of the contemporary world.
