EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, Baz Luhrmann's musical documentary, brings to life never-before-seen footage from Elvis's concerts. It hits theaters on February 25, 2026.

Directed and written by Baz Luhrmann, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is a musical documentary dedicated to Elvis Presley. It uses archival footage from concerts taped in Las Vegas in the early 1970s. The film is set to hit theaters on February 25, 2026, with an exclusive IMAX release starting February 18. Running for 1 hour and 36 minutes, it continues Luhrmann’s exploration of the King, following his 2022 biopic Elvis, starring Austin Butler.

The project initially took shape during the preparation of Elvis. While delving into archives related to the musical documentaries Elvis: That’s the Way It Is (1970) and Elvis on Tour (1972), Baz Luhrmann uncovered the existence of reels from concerts thought to be lost. These footage, filmed during Elvis's Las Vegas performances, capture a pivotal moment in his live career when he was at the height of his vocal prowess and global stardom.

Drawing on these materials, the film offers a sensory journey into Elvis's world on stage, going beyond a straightforward concert recording. The musical performances are interwoven with audio clips where the singer reflects on his life, his relationship with fame, and his music. The editing aims to capture his presence, voice, and energy, weaving these moments into a freer, more evocative narrative.

The project was made possible thanks to Warner Bros.' collaboration, which granted access to dozens of reels and multi-track audio recordings. Overall, Baz Luhrmann was able to review nearly 59 hours of archival material, some dating back to the 1950s. While some footage had never been used before, other clips had only circulated in heavily degraded versions.

The restoration process was a painstaking effort that spanned nearly two years. The team meticulously located and digitized the footage in 4K, including scenes shot on Super 8, 16mm, and 35mm anamorphic film. Directors Peter Jackson and the technicians at Park Road Post Production worked tirelessly to restore both image and sound, placing special emphasis on bringing Elvis’s voice back to life and remastering the original orchestral arrangements for a richer audio experience.

Artistically, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert blurs the lines between a concert film, a documentary, and a visual essay. Baz Luhrmann embraces a poetic and immersive approach, aiming to craft an almost dreamlike landscape around Elvis’s persona. The film appeals as much to Elvis fans as to viewers fascinated by iconic figures in popular music and the preservation efforts behind restoring classic cinema.
