Jennifer Lawrence will star in The Flood, the upcoming film written and directed by Zach Cregger. The project is being developed by Amblin Entertainment, the company founded by Steven Spielberg, in partnership with Vertigo Entertainment.
The plot remains under wraps, but the film is being billed as a science-fiction thriller with a sizable chunk set in space. The title, likely to shift as development progresses, still can’t reveal the nature of the danger facing Jennifer Lawrence’s character.
Zach Cregger continues his trajectory in genre cinema after Barbare, Weapons and his new adaptation of Resident Evil. For The Flood, he will assume the roles of director, screenwriter and producer.
Jennifer Lawrence is returning to science fiction after the Hunger Games saga and Passengers. The rest of the cast for the project hasn’t been announced yet, and no details have been released about her character.
The film has been placed on the American schedule for August 11, 2028. That date does not yet confirm its French release. Filming and the rest of the cast are also to be announced.
