The contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama, who signed a new collaboration with Louis Vuitton, invests two Parisian stores with unusual works! On the Champs-Elysées, her monumental installation is quite surprising. It can be seen in giant format, decorating the brand's emblematic building. And on Place Vendôme, a robot version of herself draws signature peas continuously on the window. A must see!

Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, a priestess of conceptual art who has been recognized around the world for her avant-garde works for nearly a decade, has partnered with luxury brand Louis Vuitton for a second time. Yayoi Kusama has signed a collaboration with the leather goods brand Louis Vuitton for a collection of over 400 pieces, including clothing, accessories, perfumes and trunks, entitled "Creating Infinity".

To accompany these pieces, the artist has signed some unusual works! Since January 5, and just after a work in Tokyo, the artist ignites the canvas with his automaton more real than life at Louis Vuitton, Place Vendome (photo below), and his gigantic work on the Champs-Elysees!

Indeed, on the facade of the building, we discover the famous iconic polka dots of the artist and his giant representation overhanging the corner of the Avenue George V and the Champs-Elysées. With her red hair and her polka-dot clothes, she is recognizable among thousands.

The previous collaboration dates back to 2012, following an idea from Marc Jacobs, then artistic director of Louis Vuitton, who had visited Kusama's studio in Tokyo and observed that she had painted polka dots on one of her Louis Vuitton bags. She then used one of Louis Vuitton's most timeless and magical objects: a Louis Vuitton trunk, on which she had hand-painted her iconic polka dots. Polka dots that, in her eyes, embodied infinity. This new collaboration delivers an exact replica of these dots, extensions of the hand.

Artistic exchanges are rooted in the history of the House. This long tradition dates back nearly a century, when Gaston-Louis Vuitton, grandson of the founder and family aesthete, decided to commission artists to create works for Louis Vuitton's windows and stores. We invite you to discover them through the sublime free exhibition LV Dream.

Since 1988, the company has invited several big names in art and design, including Sol LeWitt, Richard Prince, Takashi Murakami and Jeff Koons, to collaborate. In this project, Yayoi Kusama 's iconic objects, patterns and representations of infinity take over the House and all of its product categories, from leather goods to men's and women's ready-to-wear, sunglasses, fragrances, shoes and accessories.

In turn, some of Louis Vuitton 's iconic objects evolve, also adapting to the world of the House and the magical world of Yayoi Kusama. As a reminder, this is not the first time the artist has captivated us with her monumental creations in the streets of Paris. Indeed, in 2019, she had created the surprise with her giant pumpkin proudly enthroned Place Vendome on the occasion of the Fiac.
