PIDS d'Enghien-les-Bains: the special effects festival returns for a 2025 edition

The Paris Images Digital Summit (or PIDS) awaits us at the Centre des Arts d'Enghien-les-Bains from January 22 to 25, 2025. This festival dedicated to special effects gives the curious and the passionate the chance to learn more about this constantly evolving sector, and to meet some of the key players in the field.

Cinema, advertising, video games, television, transmedia: special effects are used more and more in these fields of creation and information. Technologies are changing rapidly, enabling us to create ever more impressive and surprising images... The aim of the PIDS is to publicize the latest trends and innovations in the sector, in a way that is accessible to the general public.

Screenings, meetings and conferences, exhibitions, masterclasses, awards ceremonies, a recruitment and training area: a whole host of events are planned during the festival. Enthusiasts and professionals come together to enjoy a unique show, entirely dedicated to special effects.

This 11th edition of PIDS welcomes Michael Pangrazio, the American art director who worked on the sets for Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Empire Strikes Back. Visitors will be able to attend a preview screening of A Night at the Zoo in the presence of the animation studio's team, and take part in case studies with some of the major studios that have made cultural news in recent months...

Highlights of this year's PIDS at the CDA in Enghien-les-Bains:

GENIE AWARDS
A grand awards ceremony kicking off the event, featuring a renowned international figure in visual effects.
Masterclass with Michael Pangrazio
Honoring the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award, Michael Pangrazio will look back on his entire career in conversation with Réjane Vallée (professor at the University of Évry Paris Saclay, author of books on the history of special effects and visuals). A wealth of images and film clips will accompany his journey.
Following the session, attendees will enjoy a screening of one of his iconic films: RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.
Preview of the nationwide release on January 29: A NIGHT AT THE ZOO
With appearances by the team from animation studio MacGuff (Minions, Despicable Me...).
Giusy Pisano Lecture: THE HISTORY OF MATTE PAINTING IN CINEMA
To complement the exhibition The Cinema in Trompe-l'œil, Giusy Pisano, a university professor at ENS Louis Lumière and film historian, will explore the history of matte painting from the dawn of cinema to today, illustrated with numerous images.
Special Evening: Back to the Future
An exclusive screening followed by a Q&A with Julien Dupuy, film journalist, author, documentary filmmaker, and visual effects expert.
Plus, a photo session with the DeLorean from the film — come sit in the driver’s seat!
Cinema Exhibition
Visit the exhibition The Cinema in Trompe-l'œil. On display from January 23 to May 25, 2025. The opening reception will be held on January 23 at 6:30 p.m.
PIDS CONFERENCES
Two and a half days of professional talks showcasing the best in international visual effects — including case studies, panels, and screenings of major film excerpts such as The Substance, Emilia Pérez, and The Rings of Power Season 2.
A dedicated day focusing on industry challenges, with partners like France VFX, Ficam, CNC, Cap Digital, Audiens, and leading schools such as ArtFX, Louis Lumière, and VFX Workshop.
PIDS JOB FAIR
An opportunity for young talents to connect with leading companies actively recruiting in the sector.
PIDS WORKSHOP PRO
A day and a half of hands-on workshops raising awareness of visual effects for producers.
