If you're more interested in immersing yourself in ancestral methods, there's a veritable institution in Paris that acts as an ambassador for Chinese massage in Paris: Spa Lanqi. With treatments inspired by the theories of traditional medicine (note that this is "alternative" medicine, not to be confused with recognized conventional medicine) and beauty rituals that span the centuries, this temple to well-being offers a wide range of exclusive treatments at several addresses, one in the 7th arrondissement, the second in the 15th arrondissement and the third in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
You'll find yourself in the lair of Madame Lanqi, a Sherlock Holmes of well-being who has imported her methodology to Paris, the fruit of know-how handed down and perfected through three generations. Our rendez-vous will be in the 7tharrondissement, at the heart of an XXL address that is one of the largest spas in Paris. With 15 massage cabins, a hammam, showers and even a bucolic tisanerie, this labyrinthine address takes us by surprise during our visit. During our visit, we planned to discover a very special signature treatment: the exclusive ancestral massage of the house.
During a telephone conversation, Madame Lanqi explains to us what this personalized treatment is all about. The massage is adapted according to various criteria: the season, the climate, our physical state and our mental state. An expert in her field, she is also able to detect our moods and tensions by the sound of our voice. We'll easily confide and confirm the discomfort of the moment: with just a few days to go before the start of our period, menstrual cramps were making themselves felt and our moods were pretty awful.
Then it's time to literally put yourself in good hands, in this case those of Chloris, for a 1h30 treatment. When it comes to made-to-measure massages, we weigh our words carefully. As soon as the massage begins, a hot-water bottle is placed under your belly and a second one on your lower back. Heated cushions waltz from strategic point to strategic point throughout the treatment, as Chloris works to rejuvenate us from head to toe.
The result is a massage that's meticulous, methodical but not overly formal. Throughout the treatment, we feel that each gesture is adapted to us and our specific problems, while Chloris gives us a few tips and explains the source of certain tensions. With expert gestures, she auscultates, juggling pressure points, friction, stretching and kneading. When faced with stubborn knots, she gets to the root of the obstacle, and we'll be amazed to finally feel the tension in the back of our neck evaporate after massaging the whole of our arm right down to our fingertips.
You reach that satisfying feeling of a good massage, of being relieved of a weight you weren't even aware you had. But this time, it's different again. Although we'd been promised rest for body and mind, we hadn't expected it to be so respected: in the days that followed, the aches and pains had subsided, as had our bad moods. The batteries are recharged and we're ready for the next stage of our daily epic!
