This weekend, Britpop lovers will have their eyes riveted on Cardiff for the start of Oasis' tour and their eagerly-awaited reunion. But another British city will also be closely scrutinized, more specifically by metal lovers. This Saturday, July 5, 2025, Black Sabbath will be giving a final concert in their home town of Birmingham.
Unsurprisingly, the legendary heavy metal band's farewell concert is sold out. This special event, entitled"Back to the Beginning", promises to be a landmark in metal music history. Black Sabbath will be giving its last live performance with its original line-up. Lucky ticket-holders will find Bill Ward on drums, Geezer Butler on bass, Tony Iommi on guitar and the inimitable Ozzy Os bourne on vocals. And despite his frail health, Ozzy Osbourne is set to perform this Saturday at Villa Park. The Black Sabbath frontman has been debilitated by Parkinson's disease for some years now.
In addition to Black Sabbath, a host of other metal bands will be on hand to pay their final tribute to the band that has contributed so much to the history of heavy metal. Metallica, Guns N'Roses, Slayer, Alice In Chains, Pantera, Gojira, Tool, Anthrax, Halestorm and Mastodon will be on hand to perform Black Sabbath classics. Other artists such as Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, Jonathan David of Korn, Papa V Perpetua of Ghost, Mike Bordin of Faith No More, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and David Draiman of Disturbed have also been announced.
In view of the enthusiastic response to this farewell concert, the organizers have decided to broadcast"Back to the Beginning" as a livestream (for a fee). So how do you get there? Simply visit backtothebeginning.com and reserve your ticket. It costs €26.99 to experience this historic concert from the comfort of your own home. The live broadcast will be delayed by two hours in relation to the start time at the stadium. The broadcast will start at 4pm French time. In addition, the entire concert will be available on demand for 48 hours after the show.
Black Sabbath has undeniably left its mark on the history of heavy metal. A seminal band of the 70s and 80s, the British outfit is responsible for such iconic songs as " Paranoid ", " Black Sabbath ", " War Pigs " and " Iron Man ".
