From March 7 to May 10, 2026, the Funambule Montmartre Theatre will unveil the little-known story of Louisa May Alcott, author of Little Women. Through an original production blending theater, song, and live piano, this musical journey explores the life of a fiercely independent woman as captivating as the heroines she created.

Everyone knows the famous novel Little Women, which has been widely adapted into films. But its author, Louisa May Alcott, is just as fascinating as her book! Discover this rebellious and visionary woman, along with her extraordinary life, through a play currently showing at the Funambule Montmartre in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, running from March 7 to May 10, 2026, with performances on Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m.

This masterpiece, inspired by Louisa’s childhood and published in 1869, is considered a classic… Yet, the woman behind these words remains less known, a gap that this original production aims to fill. Five artists, including a live pianist, immerses audiences in the life of this remarkable woman through a musical fresco full of modernity, blending theatre, song, and dance for over an hour.

In the United States, Louisa May Alcott is celebrated as a hero of activism and freedom. A teacher, a nurse during the Civil War, and a passionate activist, her fight echoes through her work. A woman of strong character, she battled for the abolition of slavery and women’s emancipation. Louisa led a thousand lives before becoming a major voice in literature. Her story inspired the two directors, Lydie Misiek and Charlotte Noiry, for their debut production.

This family-friendly show, suitable for children aged 7 and up, is perfect for lovers of literature and curious audiences alike. It intertwines the story from the novel—with Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy—and Louisa’s own reflections, as she confides in her adopted daughter within the intimacy of her salon.
