Rose antique, the open-air LGBTQIA+ photo exhibition at the Cité internationale universitaire

Until August 11, 2023, the gates of the Cité internationale universitaire will be decked out in LGBTQIA+ colors thanks to a free photo exhibition featuring testimonials from older people who have openly assumed their sexual orientation in their time.

For Pride Month, the Rose antique exhibition unveils the portraits of some thirty LGBTQIA+ seniors who openly assumed their sexual orientation, at a time when this was even more difficult than it is today. On the gates of the Cité internationale universitaire, until August 11, 2023, photos accompanied by poignant testimonials will evoke the different experiences of emancipation, sometimes beautiful, sometimes sad, over the years and across countries.

In collaboration with the Open Mind Foundation, Dutch photographer and artist Ernst Coppejanshas put together this freeopen-air touring exhibition, accompanied by an eponymous podcast. It's a moving opportunity to discover the journeys of the generations who, in their own time, opened up a voice for the homosexual, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual people of today and tomorrow.

La Cité internationale welcomes this project, "proud to host this exhibition which illustrates its commitment to the fight against all forms of discrimination and celebrates the values of openness and tolerance", with the support of the Dutch College and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
