Drawing, painting, sculpture, dance: the Beaux-Arts encompass a wide range of disciplines in keeping with artistic and cultural academic traditions. This movement, which originated in 18th-century France, is still appreciated and celebrated: the proof is in the Salon des Beaux-Arts, which returns for a new edition, from September 14 to 24, 2023.
This year, the century-old show takes up residence in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, at the Réfectoire des Cordeliers. This historic event has been bringing art lovers together in the capital since 1862! It's free and open to all, so there's every reason to enjoy it.
For this 2023 edition, we're off to meet a host of emerging artists. Among them are painters, sculptors, photographers, engravers, illustrators...
These creators exhibit their art at the show, which is sponsored by actor Pierre Arditi. This year, we also admire the work of photographer Victoria Vinas, guest of honor and winner of the Prix Puvis de Chavannes. This prize, created in 1925, rewards " the best work of the Salon [...] and is intended, in our minds, to encourage the young people who will want to take their place among us. "
In addition to the prize-giving ceremonies, the Salon offers a variety of other events over the two-week period:
Camille Claudel, Édouard Manet, Suzanne Valadon, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Anna Klumpke, Auguste Rodin and many others have passed through this Salon des Beaux-Arts. Why not come and discover the next big names in the art world?
