Comic strip exhibition at the Centre Pompidou: Comics on every floor

From May 29 to November 4, 2024, the Centre Pompidou celebrates comics with an unprecedented exhibition. The"La BD à tous les étages" exhibition offers a multi-dimensional journey through the 9th art form. In partnership with the Fonds Hélène & Édouard Leclerc, the event promises to be a cultural milestone, taking in every level of this flagship institution for modern and contemporary art.

This ambitious exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of comics. As soon as you enter, you'll be greeted by a historical and stylistic panorama, in which the works of Hergé come into dialogue with those of Hugo Pratt. The exhibition is more than just a retrospective; it's a genuine exploration of the different currents and eras of the 9th art, offering a unique perspective on artists such as Claire Brétécher, André Franquin, Marjane Satrapi and Pénélope Bagieu.

The curatorial approach of Anne Lemonnier and Emmanuèle Payen, supported by experts Thierry Groensteen and Lucas Hureau, gives the exhibition an academic depth. Their work highlights the diversity and richness of this art form, often underestimated in its narrative and aesthetic complexity.
