Who hasn't heard of the cult films Titanic, Avatar and Terminator? Nobody, that's right! James Cameron, who brought all these famous universes to life, now classics, is considered one of the greatest directors and screenwriters of his time. The Cinémathèque française will be paying tribute to his entire body of work in an exhibition opening in the French capital from April 4, 2024 to January 5, 2025!
In"The Art of James Cameron", visitors will be able to discover the history and life of the filmmaker, as well as his achievements, through numerous rare items from his private collection, exhibited for the very first time. The public will be able to travel through almost six decades, to understand the trajectory of the ideas that gave life to these films and left their mark on the seventh art.
The man many consider a genius began with a pen, pencil and brush, before moving on to the camera and the use of cutting-edge, often avant-garde technologies. Plunge into universes both marvellous and terrifying, thanks in particular to the video-mapping and interactive devices at the heart of the exhibition.
Discover projects that never saw the light of day, and retrace the filmmaker's favorite themes and motifs, such as"untamed worlds", creatures and "exploring the unknown", through nearly 300 original works, including costumes, sketches and 3D devices.
Immerse yourself in the intimacy of James Cameron, with the help of the filmmaker's highly personal written and oral comments on his own creative and artistic evolution, in a complete and exceptional exhibition, almost an autobiography!
