The Aquarium de Paris is giving designer and visual artist Maurice Renoma carte blanche for an immersive exhibition from March 2 to May 3, 2024. Cristobal, the plastic goldfish and Renoma's alter-ego, is the protagonist of this tour. He invites you to follow his adventures through thirty offbeat works scattered between the basins.
Taking a dip in an
exhibition? Sounds incompatible, but it's happening at the
Aquarium de Paris! From
March 2 to May 3, 2024,
Cristobal, the
plastic goldfish and mascot of designer and visual artist
Maurice Renoma, invites you to follow his adventures along a
playful, sensory trail where
art meets ecology.
In this
immersive and unusual
stroll-visit,
Maurice Renoma invites visitors to reflect on the omnipresence of plastic in the oceans. Cristobal, his whimsical, offbeat companion, becomes the standard-bearer for a contemporary message of hope and commitment.
Through
some thirty works as poetic as they are hard-hitting, Maurice Renoma plunges us into a sensory odyssey that combines
video projections, large-format vinyl photographs, stickers and tarpaulins. In the course of the tanks, jellyfish and other finned creatures become mute witnesses to a moving story, that of our impact on the marine environment.
Beyond the aesthetics of the works, it is a call to action that resonates at the heart of this
exhibition. Faced with the overproduction of waste and growing pollution, Maurice Renoma is committed to
raising public awareness of the ecological emergency that surrounds us. Through his
"Mythologies of the Goldfish" series of photographs, he depicts the
environmental issues we face, always in a
light-hearted, pop spirit.
Cristobal, a symbol of resilience and reinvention, embodies the power of a universal message: that of preserving the fragile beauty of our planet for future generations.
