Part of the prestigious collection of Rotterdam's Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is on show at the Fondation Custodia from October 12, 2024 to January 12, 2025. This selection of 120 Italian Renaissance drawings by the greatest Italian masters of the 15th and 16th centuries is part of one of the world's most remarkable collections of early drawings, and awaits you in Paris's 7th arrondissement.
From Leonardo da Vinci to Raphael, Michelangelo and Veronese, some works have been regularly published and exhibited, while others remain little-known, despite the fact that these talented artists were major figures of their time. This is an opportunity to gain a glimpse of artistic developments from the very beginning of the Renaissance, through precursors such as Pisanello, Spinelli and Gozzoli, whose drawings are becoming rare, after some of them disappeared in a fire.
The exhibition shows the recurrence of themes and cities, including Florence and Venice, which inspired artists and established themselves as hotbeds of artistic creation, from Bartolomeo to Tintoretto. While the exhibition allows us to admire drawings by the three great masters, it also offers an opportunity to see their influence on subsequent generations, particularly Roman and Emilian artists.
A superb exhibition, perfect for all drawing enthusiasts who want to draw inspiration or enjoy a moment of introspection in the heart of the last centuries!
