The paths of creation are not a long, quiet river. Many unforeseen events can occur, forcing artists and craftsmen to change their plans, and sometimes their creations. From March 12 to August 3, 2025, the Jardin des Métiers d'Art et du Design is organizing a free, never-before-seen exhibition on these vicissitudes of the creative world.
The exhibition Aléas, pratiques de l'adaptation, unveils some thirty diverse works, and their stories. Artists and designers explain how each object was created, how they had to juggle unforeseen circumstances to give shape to their vision. These works also tell us that the act of creation does not exist in isolation, but is part of an environment, a very real world in which people and industries evolve.
Along the way, you can admire design objects, creations for public spaces, decorations and useful objects. Each one is the result of a creative process fraught with difficulties: weather constraints, technical problems, changes of equipment...
With this exhibition, JAD highlights the importance of knowing how to let go, adapt and start again, in order to achieve greater success. The designers featured in the exhibition have managed to break away from habit and tradition, mixing knowledge and influences to create something new.
Here you can admire surprising or emblematic pieces by leading designers such as Olivier Vadrot, Valentine Tiraboschi and Sacha Parent, François Azambourg...
Design lovers, take advantage of this free exhibition at the Jardin des Métiers d'Art et du Design to discover the art of creation in a whole new way.
