A double fashion showcase at the Dior Gallery and the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation in Paris – our photos

Two giants. Two visions. One thread. This autumn, Paris adjusts its hems and irons its pleats for the fashion event of the season: Galerie Dior and the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa sign a double fashion exhibition that reveals Azzedine Alaïa's deep admiration for Christian Dior and his legacy.

From November 20, 2025, to May 3, 2026, the Dior Gallery steps out of the shadows for the first time, showcasing more than a hundred Dior pieces from a collection of 600 designs assembled over the years by Alaïa and preserved by his foundation. These treasures, where folds, cuts, and volumes tell the story of Alaïa’s unique perspective on the master of the New Look and his successors—from Yves Saint Laurent to John Galliano—offer a rare glimpse into his world. The connection feels all the more palpable considering that, at just 21 years old, in June 1956, Azzedine Alaïa completed a five-day internship at Dior—a charming anecdote preserved by his personnel file, now displayed behind glass at the gallery.

Meanwhile, the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation is preparing to showcase a unique exhibition from December 15, 2025, to May 24, 2026. Titled "A Half-Dozen Dior Creations Collected by Alaïa", the display will feature a dialogue between about thirty Dior designs and an equal number of pieces by the Tunisian couturier. A two-level couture tête-à-tête, this exhibition reveals how Dior’s legacy has subtly woven its way into Alaïa’s sculpted, flawless silhouettes.

Having briefly joined Dior in 1956, Alaïa will always remember the absolute demands of the Avenue Montaigne workshops. Curated by Olivier Saillard, with the collaboration of Gaël Mamine, this double exhibition offers an unprecedented rereading of the Dior story through the eyes of a visionary collector. Two exhibitions like two signature pieces, linked by a single thread: the passion of the couture gesture.
