The idea may come as a surprise: an exhibition of works, installations, and performances set in the heart of a cemetery. The Poush artist residency is nonetheless keen to bring art to a place of remembrance on the outskirts of the capital by the end of May. And it is in the largest cemetery in France that this artistic rendezvous will unfold.
From May 30 to October 15, 2026, the Pantin Cemetery, located in Seine-Saint-Denis, will host "Demeure", a contemporary art exhibition uniting the works of about twenty artists: Arnaud Adami, Ece Bal, Isabelle Boccon-Gibod, Bianca Bondi, Charbel-joseph H. Boutros, Garance Butler Oliva, Gaëlle Choisne, Didier Fiúza Faustino, Max Fouchy, Laurent Grasso, Morteza Khosravi, Tilhenn Klapper, Thibault Lucas, Saeedeh Mirshekar, Valentine Prissette, Luca Resta, Julien Salaud, Eric Stephany, Maya-Inès Touam and Andy Warhol.
L'The exhibition is free and visitors can discover these works via an art trail of roughly one kilometer through the avenues. A stroll that should bring us to the crossroads between funerary art and contemporary art.
This isn’t the first time an exhibition has taken place in a cemetery in France, nor in the Paris region. In the Val-de-Marne, the neighboring department, BRIKX staged an exhibition at Valenton in 2017. Each year, during the Spring of Cemeteries, some venues also host temporary exhibitions.
