A world of feathers, sequins... And a healthy dose of savoir-faire. The Moulin Rouge invites you to visit its workshops on the occasion of the Journées européennes des Métiers d'Art, April 6 and 7, 2024.

Heritage gardener, carpenter, master glassmaker, sculptor and stonecutter, mosaic artist, decorative painter, jeweller, model maker... More than 280 trades are included in the official list of"métiers d'art": important and respectable professions requiring exceptional skills.

These craftsmen and women contribute to French culture through their creations and their work. Now that's something to dream about! And what if you could meet these very special people? That's the idea behind the Journées européennes des Métiers d'art ( JEMA), which celebrates its 18th edition from April 2 to 7, 2024.

This annual event gives us the opportunity to visit different workshops, cultural and heritage sites, and talk to the craftspeople who work there.

In Paris and Île-de-France, several hundred sites open their doors to us. Among them, a place that shines with a thousand lights, a place that makes tourists and Parisians alike dream: the Moulin Rouge! The famous cabaret takes us into its creative workshops, to discover those who help bring the magic of the show to life.

Stage costumes, featherwork, bootmaking, embroidery: the Moulin Rouge's artisans work hard to create exceptional shows. They'll be revealing their secrets and their workspaces in free tours, available on registration from March 8.

The program for the Journées européennes des Métiers d'Art at the Moulin Rouge:

  • JEMA 2024
    Saturday April 6 and Sunday April 7, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registration required
Meet at 17 rue Pierre Fontaine 75009 Paris
The public will discover these workshops through four tours on Saturday and Sunday: the tour begins at the Clairvoy workshops, before entering the Moulin Rouge for a behind-the-scenes look at embroidery (Valentin workshops) and costume design and construction (Mine Verges workshops). The tour ends with a visit to the Maison Février feather workshop. The Moulin Rouge is home to prestigious workshops, guarantors of exceptional French know-how:
    • Les ateliers de Mine Verges: the birthplace of Moulin Rouge stage costumes.
    • Maison Février: the last feather workshop in the heart of Paris, Maison Février's mission is to create unique pieces for the Moulin Rouge.
    • Maison Clairvoy: high-end bootmaker, designer and creator. Shoes are an integral part of the stage costume.
    • Ateliers Valentin: a true bespoke art, the embroidery workshops decorate artists' costumes.

An exceptional visit not to be missed!
