JEMA 2024 at the Hôtel de la Marine: discover the secrets of decorative art and moldings

Beneath the gilding that adorns the rooms of theHôtel de la Marine lies a long and rich history... But also a wealth of expertise! To maintain and preserve this monument, many craftsmen are hard at work. Find out more about these people and their skills at JEMA 2024.

JEMA stands for Journées européennes des Métiers d'Art, an annual event that gives us the opportunity to learn more about the art of craftsmanship. These particular crafts require unique and exceptional knowledge and skills. Cabinet-makers, glass-blowers, milliners, fountains, stone carvers, gilders, cutlers, painters, lace-makers, calligraphers... More than 280 professions are grouped under this honorary title.

During the Journées des Métiers d'Art, the general public can meet these craftsmen, chat with them, watch a demonstration... They can also visit monuments, workshops, museums and heritage sites. The kind of event we love!

On the program for JEMA 2024 at the Hôtel de la Marine:

• Come and discover stucco and staff, two materials that can be used to create highly sophisticated moldings and decorations. As part of its 3rd participation in the Journées européennes des Métiers d'art, the Hôtel de la Marine invites you to an exceptional meeting with a staff craftsman from the Del Boca workshop, who contributed to the restoration of the 18th-century apartments now open to the public.

It's sure to be a weekend of discoveries.
