While we're all familiar with the Chinese quarters of the 13th arrondissement or Belleville, we've rarely heard of the Vietnamese quarter, located in the 5th arrondissement. Here's your chance to discover it on an unusual guided tour!

A historic district for the Vietnamese community in Paris, the 5th arrondissement has been home to the first generations of Vietnamese students since the 1960s, as well as to their shared culture, cuisine and language.

In the 70s and 80s, France welcomed many refugees from theformer Indochina (Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in particular), more than 145,000 of whom fled their country for political reasons: the Vietnam War, the genocide perpetrated in Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge, forced labor in Communist Laos, not to mention the various occupations to which these countries were subjected. From generation to generation, the heritage of Vietnamese culture lives on in the 5th arrondissement, with typical restaurants, bookshops, associations...

The Donatien Schramm guide and Explore Paris invite you to discover not only the Vietnamese district of the 5th arrondissement, but also the culture of this Southeast Asian country. Its rites, beliefs, culinary traditions... You'll learn all about the country of the long-dormant dragon, and discover the 5th arrondissement as you've never seen it before!

This 2.5-hour guided tour costs €14 per person, and is recommended for children aged 9 and over. Meet at the Maubert-Mutualité metro station exit for the start of the tour, which will end between Place Monge and Place du Marché des Patriarches. A great idea for an outing to discover one of the capital's hidden facets.
