Carl Fredriksen will soon take off for Disney Adventure World! Since the extension opened to visitors on March 29, 2026, Disneyland Paris is already teeing up more innovations, with a new attraction under construction on Adventure Way based on Pixar's blockbuster film Up. What do we know about it? Here’s the lowdown!
To kick off its concept, the project will be a "flying chair / flying carousel" ride built by Zamperla, as announced by Michel Den Dulk, vice-president and Portfolio Executive Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, during a press conference on April 11, 2025. We also know its name: Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings! A name that nods to the Wilderness Explorers (the French version Les Explorateurs de la Tribu des Wapitis), the explorers' club Russell belongs to. This detail was unveiled on the resort's anniversary, this April 12, 2026. As for an opening date, expect it in 2027, though no exact timing has been given.
This new ride isn’t exactly uncharted territory for Disney parks, since Disney California Adventure, the American counterpart of the Studios, already offers this kind of attraction, the Silly Symphony Swings — and it will be located right opposite the Raiponce Tangled Spin attraction, on Adventure Way. As for the works, construction kicked off in late 2025, with an opening date still unknown but planned well after the rest of the area opens, as an Imagineer on the site explained to us during a tour of the project.
In terms of theming, expect a decor more in keeping with the area's Art Deco theme, with touches reminiscent of the Pixar animated film, if the first concept art unveiled during our visit is anything to go by. A themed garden surrounding the attraction is also planned, based on the Pixar feature film. An attraction where visitors"will be able to twirl through the air aboard a flying carousel, offering a panoramic view of the park's magnificent surroundings from above", also explains Michel Den Dulk.
On July 18, 2025, it was the turn of the freshly-published building permit to reveal a few details about the attraction. As our DLP Works colleagues explain, the attraction will have a footprint of 793m2, its queue will cover 310m2 and the attraction's circular platform will measure 20m in diameter and include 64 seats. Estimated hourly throughput is approximately 950 people per hour.
And, according to DLP Works, the attraction will feature a strongly themed queue divided into four zones, centered on Carl and Ellie's childhood memories, the spirit of exploration, a ceremony awarding an "aviation badge", and the famous balloons lifting Carl's house into the air.
Regarding the attraction itself, as Disneyland Paris explains in a press release, it will feature 64 seats, laid out across "48 seats" (32 single seats and 16 double seats) in a wicker-chair style. On the musical side, there’s a new score that also nods to fairground organs. And as for the ride’s storyline, guests will be invited to join the adventure to try to earn the coveted "Aviation" badge for budding explorers!
A great chance to drop by and, like Carl Fredricksen and Russel, set your sights on new horizons! In the meantime, we’re checking out Advendture Way and the rest of the expansion at Disneyland Paris!
